Testimonials
“I really enjoyed the 1/2 marathon this year. The event is very well run and I loved the massage therapy afterward this year — nice touch! The course is my favourite one in Nova Scotia and I love some hills and a bit of a challenge.”
“Great volunteers and community support. As much as I liked the event in Kentville in previous years, it was time to move it to Wolfville and it is a MUCH better course with better participation from the community. I hope to be back in 2010!”
“This was my first 5km run and you did a super job organizing it. Keep up the good work. ”
“Thank you for a positive and fun experience. The race appeared to be very well organized from registering to right up to and with this feed back survey. The volunteers were friendly and motivating. The children's fun run was great. What a positive intro to running for kids.”
“A beautiful course and one which I definitely plan to run every year. Keep up the great work.”
“I've done about 15 races, some in Ottawa and one in Prague and was impressed with how well organized the VH was. You made it all seem effortless; I was provided the answers I needed — and with enthusiasm. It's a lot of hard work and many volunteered hours, so hats off to everyone who helped for doing a great job!”
“It was my first event, and I thought everyone did a fantastic job! It was well organized — from bag pick-up to the layout in the Aux gym afterwards. Enjoyed the hype at the beginning with the music and radio station folks there. Well done. Consider having a 10km as well next year.”
“Overall this is a well run event. I enjoyed the run. It was my 1st half marathon so I have no comparative expectations. The course was perhaps a bit harder than I expected but completing a course which was tougher than I thought made the finish line even more satisfying. Thanks for a great event. I hope to be back in 2010!”
“In my mid 50's, I was a late comer to the addictive sport of running! I ran my first half marathon in the Spring of 2009 and was looking for a race for the Fall. When I saw the Valley Harvest on the Run Nova Scotia website — I was in. I grew up in the area and was so excited to be back home doing something that I never could have imagined. The entire experience was amazing. The volunteers were great; the course was challenging, well marked and beyond beautiful. The weather was ideal. In all it was a perfect day. I will surely return next year.”
“Well organized event, plenty of refreshments and food for recovery. Glad to see the timing chips given out with pick up registration, last year was challenging. Very supportive volunteers and RCMP visibility. Really enjoy the last lap into the stadium, gives you the extra boost for the finish line. It is an outstanding event and I will be back next year to qualify for Boston. Keep up the great work!!!!! ”
“This was very well run. I really appreciated the wonderful volunteers who provided terrific encouragement and I especially appreciated the very clear route directions and mile markers. I have only one suggestion, the description on the route should perhaps emphasize the hills a bit more as I found them from about the 27k mark to be a bit more than 'rolling'. All in all it was very well organized and again especially the excellent volunteers were very much appreciated!”
“I had a great time and I'll definitely be there next year, hopefully for the full!”
“I'd like to see a 10K race — loved the setup at Acadia. Great event.”
“I really have enjoyed the course change from the Kentville course. It's one of my favourite events now (last year I did the marathon and this year the half. I did the half on the Kentville course a couple of years ago and was under whelmed). Keep up the good work. It's a lovely event. I love finishing on the track and I like the little loop through town to start. Of course the rest of it is just gorgeous. I'll keep coming back.”
“Loved the last km where you are running back on the track, great way to end the race! Overall, no major complaints enjoyed the coffee and food at the end of the race. The hills at the end were kind of a pain, but got through them fine. Will definitely sign up again another year!”
“Maybe give a toque instead of the ball cap, much better for Fall runs!”
“I found that picking up my kit bag this year, was a lot easier and more organized. The route where the run is being held is a beautiful area and there have been a lot of nice comments said about it. Especially from other runners from other places. ”
“I thought this was a very well planned event. There were plenty of water stations, and I really liked having the markers at each km. The only thing I could recommend, if it's even possible, is an option for an XS shirt. Overall, awesome job.”
“Great event! Huge improvements in flow relative to last year (wait time for registration was less than 1 minute in 2009 vs. 20+ mins in 2008).
Involvement of Acadia U was much better. There should be recruiting booths set up in the Aux gym if possible.
All in all, a great event — second year in a row running my quickest time of the year in the half. Let runners use the showers at Acadia for free.”
“Everything was fantastic and easy to see it had been well organized. I loved the food/reception area afterwards and running on to the track for the finish was great!! I couldn't have asked for a better first half marathon experience. Great job.”
“As an American, this was my first experience with the phenomenon of Tim Horton's. Very enjoyable.”
“I can't really think of anything that I would truly change. This is truly a fantastic event and I LOVE the new course. I have run 4 marathons in my life and three of them were the Valley. The only other race I have run is Boston. So I think that provides some guidance of the esteem I have for this event.”
“I have been running for two years. The Valley Marathon (5K) was the most fun. Next year, I will run the half. The organization was excellent; the nutrition stands well supplied; wonderful job.”
“A winter hat or gloves in the kit instead of the baseball hat style. Overall a great run and experience!”
“I enjoyed myself thoroughly. I only started running/jogging this summer and the Valley Half was my second 'race' (Cobequid 10K was the first). My only goal was to finish.... which I did in 2:50:43. Yay me!!! LOL. I was going to sign up for the Bluenose Half but I have since decided to wait for the Valley Harvest. I love the terrain and having lived in Wolfville as a child, it's like going home for a visit. The race organizers did a fantastic job and the volunteers were phenomenal. Thank you!”
“Would love to see a 10K included. Also, separate sizing for men's and women's shirts.”
“I was quite impressed with the race. The route was gorgeous and not too difficult. I would recommend this race to anyone interested in running a marathon.”
